02 Clone
Record once, 15 seconds. Your clone films every video after this, so you never sit down to record again.
What this step does
Press "Record 15 seconds" and pick one of three ways:
- Webcam: a short script appears on screen. Look at the lens and read it with energy.
- Phone: scan the QR code or copy the link, open the same page on your phone. The camera is usually better.
- Upload: a clip of you talking to the camera, face on, works too.
Then press "Build the clone". Povu grabs one frame from the take as the reference photo and shows it to you: confirm it, or upload a photo of your own.
What you get
That one take produces three things:
- A reference photo, which locks your face.
- A motion reference, your pacing and gestures.
- A voice sample, used to build your voice model so the clone speaks in your voice.
Record once, get all three. Afterwards the Clone page shows your persona card: re-record, listen to the voice, swap the voice sample, and set the places and looks the clone films in.
Prerequisites
None. But this is the hard requirement for 03: without a face and a voice, nothing can be filmed.
How to record well
- Chest up, centered, looking at the lens. What the clone sees is what it wears and how it stands from now on.
- Light on your face, not behind you. Standing in front of a window beats a window behind you.
- Somewhere quiet. The voice is borrowed from this take, and so is the background noise.
- Face the camera. A profile or a three-quarter angle gives the clone half a face.
Questions
What if my face is not visible in the take? No clone can be built. The page says so; record again.
Can I see the clone before committing? The Clone page can generate a 5-second preview. It uses a little credit.
Can I have more than one clone? Yes. When a video is made, Povu asks which one performs it.
